Karika Cup May 2013


All clubs, schools and grassroots football players are invited to join the upcoming Karika Cup May 2013 at Melvin Jones Football Grounds, Baguio City this Saturday May 25, 2013 from 8am to 12 noon. 

Entry fee is only PhP 250.00 per team (or PhP 25.00 per player for a team of 10 players).

The Karika Cup is a tournament designed to be semi-formal and low cost with emphasis on having everybody play as BUFC believes that the game is the best teacher.


 6-Under (Born 2007· & younger) – 5 a-side

 8-Under (Born 2005· & younger) – 5 a-side

10-Under (Born 2003· & younger) – 7 a-side

12-Under (Born 2001· & younger) – 7 a-side

            15u Girls 7 a-side.

Free training, games and orientation on Saturday, March 23, 2013, 9am – 11am, at the Melvin Jones Football Grounds Baguio City.

Summer 2013 Program to start after orientation. Schedule will be every Tuesdays-Thursdays and Saturdays. Summer 2013 Program includes:

1. Trainings 3 times a week for one month;
2. Academy End-of-Module Mini-Tournament;
3. Academy kit: T-shirt, BUFC sticker etc.; and,
4. Participation in the Karika Cup 2013 (grassroots/youth football for Baguio kids).

April 7, 2011, Baguio City. — The Philex Pine Cup 2011 preparations just hit another notch with the press conference and ceremonial signing with the Philex Mining Corporation, the cup’s name sponsor.

Held at Savory Classic Chicken SM Baguio City  in front of the roomful of local media, the Tournament Commissioner, Atty. Homer S. Alinsug, announced that there are 20 teams participating in the Men’s Open category and several other teams in the Ladies and age categories.  Meantime, the official representative and legal counsel of Philex Mining Corporation, Atty. Ed Aratas, expressed Philex’s excitement in supporting this event and being a partner in promoting grassroots football in Baguio City.  Hon. Councilor Elmer Datuin, the over-all chairperson of the of SUMVAC 2011 and the chairperson for tourism and special events of the city council, graced the occasion and confirmed the city’s rising support of football in the city.  Virgie Tibaldo-Bungay and Arnold Jimenez, the Vice-President of the Baguo City Football Association (BCFA) and President of the Baguio United Football Club (BUFC) were also in attendance.

As announced by the tournament commissioiner, the following are the participating teams in the Men’s Open category:

During this conference, the formal sponsorship signing with Philex was done with Atty. Ed Aratas representing the Philex Mining Corporation as the name and main sponsor for the Philex Pine Cup 2011.  The other signatories were Arnold Jimenez and Atty. Homer Alinsug.  The Philex Pine Cup 2011 is part of the city’s SUMVAC 2011 activities and is supported by the City of Baguio and sanctioned by the Baguio City FA and the Philippine Football Federation.

Games will kick off on April 9, 2011 at 8am.  A simple opening program to be graced by the Hon. Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Hon. Councilor Elmer Datuin is set at 10am on opening day.

Melvin Jones Football Grounds, Baguio City, March 27, 2011. — The second edition of the Karika Cup 2011 was held today at Melvin Jones Football Grounds, Baguio City, with more teams participating not just from Baguio City but as far as Bauang, La Union.  
Team Palaro A under the able tutelage of Coach Gatan Dalang proved a cut above the 7-team field in the 12-Under category.  Meanwhile, Bonifacio Elementary School bagged the 10-Under category and Team Brazil, the all-girls team, ruled the 8-Under category.  The full cup results are as follows:

We are attaching our updated packet for the Philex Pine Cup 2011 which incorporates all changes up to date.  Again, may we remind that the tournament has been moved to April 9-10, 2011 for the Men’s, Ladies and 18u, and April 11-12, 2011, for the age groups
Finally, please note that the last day to register is on April 5, 2011.  We will sending our bank account information in the next couple of days.  All are encouraged to send the team entry forms as soon as possible along with your team logo and team profile.  We also plan on featuring participating teams in our cup’s mini e-magazine.

Free Football @ Melvin Jones
